What it is for
Pay (in the Terms, Scale Suite Pay) is how your clients pay you. It works inside Money, Calendar, Forms, Sites and Market, so wherever a client sees a price, they can pay it.
What it does best
One simple price. 5% of each payment with a $1.50 minimum, card fees included, so you always know what a payment costs you. Bank transfers are capped at $50 for payments up to $5,000. See Pay fees, with examples.
Common tasks
Turn on Pay
- In Money, choose Turn on Pay. It is also a step in setup.
- Answer four short steps: your business, you, payouts and a review. Stripe verifies your business and collects your tax ID and payout bank details.
- Set your statement name (5 to 22 letters and numbers), your logo and your color.
Get paid on an invoice or link
- Send an invoice or a payment link from Money.
- The client opens your pay page and pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link or US bank transfer.
- The invoice marks itself paid and the payment lands in Books.
Tips
- On the pay page, the client can add an optional tip in $1 steps.
- The Pay fee is figured on the total, tip included.
Refund a payment
- Open the payment and choose Refund.
- The client gets the money back. The Pay fee is not returned.
Answer a dispute
- If a client disputes a payment with their bank, you see it in Pay.
- Send your evidence, like the signed contract and the invoice. Stripe charges its dispute fee to your Stripe account.
Today and at launch
Works today
- The Pay setup screens and pay pages in the preview. Payments there are simulated, and nothing is charged. Stripe stays in test mode.
- The price table in the app, with Stripe's international and conversion fees passed through at cost.
At launch
- Real checkout on invoices, payment links and bookings.
- Payouts to your bank on Stripe's schedule.
- Apple Wallet passes: a member card with your pay link, punch cards your customers collect, and booking tickets.
Scale Protect, Show Terms and early payout appear in parts of the preview. They are not offered, and nothing is held, lent or paid out early. Instant payouts are not offered yet either.
Stripe and your money
Payment processing is provided by Stripe under the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Payments go to your own Stripe account and are paid out on Stripe's schedule. Scale is not a bank and never holds your money. See the Terms, section 5.
How it connects
Pay works on Money invoices and links, Calendar bookings, Forms, your Sites pages and Market orders. Every payment lands in Books and on the client in Contacts.
