What it is for
Money is where you send invoices, take payments, pay bills, keep receipts and see your cash. It has Invoices, Payment links, Wallet cards, Bills, Receipts, Transactions and Reports.
What it does best
It tells you what is safe to spend, not just what is in the bank. And when a client pays, the invoice, the client record and your books all update together, so nothing is typed twice.
Common tasks
Send an invoice
- Open Money, Invoices, and choose New. Pick the client; their details fill in.
- Add the lines and a due date.
- Send it. With Pay turned on, the client can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer from the invoice.
Make a payment link
- Open Payment links and choose New.
- Name it and set the amount, like a deposit or a service visit.
- Share the link or its QR code. Clients pay without an account.
Connect your bank
- Choose Connect a bank and sign in on your bank's own screen, through Plaid. Scale never sees your bank login.
- Charges arrive every few hours, each with a suggested category. Accept them one at a time or all at once.
- Disconnect any time from the same screen.
Approve bills
- Add bills as they come in, or attach the receipt.
- Set an approval limit. Bills over it, or from a new vendor, wait for you.
See where cash went, and what is ahead
- Open the overview. One tap explains what changed your cash this month, line by line.
- The cash view projects your balance from invoices, bills and pay days, with a likely range.
- Turn on public mode to hide every amount before you share your screen.
Today and at launch
Works today
- Writing invoices and keeping track of what clients owe you.
- The full Money preview with example data. Payments and transfers there are simulated, and nothing real moves.
At launch
- Taking real payments through Pay.
- Connecting your bank through Plaid. Today bank connections are switched off and no bank is contacted.
- Paying bills and moving money. Tax set asides are a plan today, not a transfer.
- Apple Wallet cards for your business, like punch cards and member cards.
Scale is not a bank
Scale does not hold your money. Payments go to your own Stripe account, and your bank connection is read only. Pockets and set aside amounts are labels to plan your money inside Scale, not separate bank accounts, and money in them is not insured by Scale. See the Terms, section 5.
How it connects
Payments run through Pay. Every transaction lands in Books. Invoices link to the client in Contacts. Late invoices show on Home, and AI can look one up for you if your role allows it.
