What it is for

Books is your bookkeeping: categories for every transaction, what to set aside for taxes, bills and receipts, mileage, 1099 contractors and payroll reports. It is built for owners, in plain words.

What it does best

It shows safe to spend. Taxes, owner pay and bills due are already taken out, so the number you see is yours to use. Tap how it is figured on any number to see the math.

Common tasks

Categorize transactions

  1. Open Books. New transactions from your bank come with a suggested category.
  2. Accept, or pick a different one. You can undo any time.
  3. Accept a filing rule when AI suggests one, so the same kind of charge sorts itself next time.

Set your tax set aside

  1. Open Taxes and check the rate. It covers federal, California and self employment tax for an owner at your level.
  2. Move it to match what your CPA told you.

Keep receipts and log mileage

  1. Snap a receipt; it matches itself to the transaction.
  2. Log trips under Mileage. AI nudges you about trips you may have missed.

Track 1099 contractors

  1. Add each contractor you pay.
  2. Books shows who is over the 1099 limit and still needs a W-9.

Record payroll

  1. Payroll providers are not connected yet. If you pay people today, add each payment as a bill or a transaction.
  2. It is counted the same way in your reports.

Today and at launch

Works today

  • The full Books preview with example data, including safe to spend and every number's math.

At launch

  • Your own books, filled from your connected bank and from Pay.
  • Receipt matching and mileage on your own records.

Payroll provider connections do not have a date yet. Books does not file taxes for you and does not give tax advice; work with your CPA.

How it connects

Transactions come from your bank through Money and from Pay. Receipts can come from Mail and Drive. Analytics and Home show your profit and cash from Books.
