What it is for
Video is for meeting clients and your team face to face, without asking anyone to download an app or make an account.
What it does best
Guests join from one link with just their name. They open the link in a browser, allow their camera and mic, type their name and ask to join. You let them in.
Common tasks
Start a call
- Open Video and choose Start a call, or start one from a client in Contacts.
- Pick who to call, or copy the room link.
- Check your mic, camera and speaker on the ready screen, then join.
Let people in
- When a guest asks to join, you see their name.
- Let them in. Use People during the call to see who is there.
Share your screen
- During the call, choose Share screen.
- Pick the window or screen to share. Stop sharing from the same button.
Turn on captions and a transcript
- Each person chooses whether to turn on their own captions with the CC button.
- To transcribe the call, choose Transcribe this call. Everyone is asked to share their captions, and each person can say no or stop any time.
- The transcript shows who said what, with times. Copy or download it when the call ends.
Take notes together
- Open Notes in the call. Shared notes are visible to everyone and anyone can type.
- When the call ends, copy or download the notes, or open an email with them filled in.
Consent comes first
Before anyone records or transcribes a call, everyone on the call must agree, wherever they are. Captions use the speech recognition in each person's browser; Chrome and Edge use their online speech service for this. Background effects are made on your own device, and your video is never uploaded for them. The Terms, section 9, and the Privacy policy have the details.
Today and at launch
Works today
- Real video calls in the browser on the live site, peer to peer.
- Guest links, the waiting room and host tools, in call chat, screen share and live captions.
- Transcripts, AI notes and recording only when everyone in the call agrees. Anyone can say no or take it back, and it pauses for everyone.
- AI notes labeled as AI generated. Recordings are saved only to the host's own device and never uploaded.
At launch
- Saving AI notes to the client's record.
- Invites sent by text and email when you start a call from Contacts. Today you copy and share the link.
How it connects
Schedule calls in Calendar; the event carries the link. Call notes go to the client in Contacts, and follow ups can go to Tasks.
