What it is for

Wish an app did something it does not? Send Scale a feature request. Scale reads every one, may ask you a question, and, when it is something we can build, sends a quote. If you accept, Scale builds it as a custom feature that turns on for your account alone.

Asking is free. Nothing is charged unless you accept a quote and pay.

Send a request

  1. Choose the light bulb at the top of any app. You can also use Settings, Feature requests, or Request a feature in Settings, Help and support.
  2. Pick which app it is about, give it a short name, and say what it should do and why it matters.
  3. Say how soon you need it: nice to have, soon would help, important this month, or blocking my work.
  4. Attach up to 5 files from Drive if they help. Scale staff open them through a private link that ends in 30 days. Removing a file turns its link off.
  5. Choose Send request. You can follow it in Feature requests.

Owners, Admins and Members can send requests and message Scale on them. Guests can not. Only the account Owner can accept a quote, pay or cancel.

What each status means

  • Submitted: Scale has it.
  • Reviewing: Scale is looking at it and may ask you a question on the request.
  • Quote ready: read the quote and accept it, decline it, or ask about it.
  • Accepted: you accepted. Building starts once payment is through.
  • Building and Testing: Scale is making it and checking it in your account.
  • Live: it is on in your account.
  • Declined: the request is closed, because Scale can not build it, you withdrew it, or you cancelled before building started. Scale always says why.

Quotes and paying

A quote shows the price (one time, monthly, or both), what you get, the timeline, and the renewal, refund and cancellation terms, right next to the Accept button.

  1. Read the terms. If something is off, choose Decline quote and say what would work better, or send Scale a message.
  2. To accept, check the box for the price and terms of the quote and the box for the custom work terms in the Terms of Service.
  3. Pay through Scale Suite billing. A monthly price becomes an add-on to your plan.

Refunds: cancel online before Scale starts building and anything you paid is refunded. After that, if what Scale delivers does not do what the quote says, Scale fixes it, and if it can not, refunds the one time price. Monthly charges already paid are not refunded, except where the law requires.

Cancel a monthly add-on

A monthly add-on renews every month until you cancel, and Scale reminds you once a year what it costs. Cancel it online any time: open the request, or Settings, Feature requests, Monthly add-ons, and choose Cancel add-on. No call or email needed. Cancelling stops the next charge, the feature stays on until the end of the month you paid for, and you get a confirmation number.

Custom features

A custom feature is built for your account alone. It turns on only for people in your account, or for one business in it, and never for anyone else. Its code is sent only to your account. Find it in Feature requests, Custom features, and in the app it belongs to.

Today and at launch

Works today

  • Sending requests with files from Drive, messages with Scale, quotes, and accepting with the consent boxes.
  • Custom features turned on for one account.
  • Cancelling a request or a monthly add-on online.

At launch

  • Real card payments. Before launch, payments run in Stripe test mode and no real card is charged.
  • Email updates about your request. Today you see every update on the request itself.

How it connects

Files come from Drive. Monthly add-ons sit next to your plan in Plans and pricing. AI can explain how requests work, but only you send them.
