Acceptable use policy

1.Who this covers

This policy is part of the Terms of service. It applies to every business on Scale Suite and to everyone the business invites, including team members, guests and anyone who uses AI or a feature through your account. Your business is responsible for what happens under its account.

It also covers what you build or send with Scale Suite: websites in Sites, listings in Market, email in Mail, texts and chats in Chat, calls in Video, documents in Docs and Sign, files in Drive, and passes in Apple Wallet.

2.Illegal, harmful and deceptive use

Do not use Scale Suite to:

• break any law or regulation, or help someone else break one
• sell or promote illegal goods or services, or goods you have no right to sell, such as stolen or counterfeit items
• defraud, scam or mislead anyone, including fake urgency, fake scarcity, bait pricing or hidden mandatory fees
• impersonate a person, business or government, including with AI voices, cloned voices or AI images of real people
• harass, threaten, bully, stalk or dox anyone, or promote violence or hate
• share sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes minors. We report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as the law requires
• share someone's private or intimate images without their consent
• collect, buy or use personal information you have no right to, or use it in a way the person did not agree to

3.Spam and messaging

Do not send spam. Do not use bought, rented, shared or scraped lists. Email, texts and calls must follow the Mail, messaging and calls policy, including consent, opt outs and quiet hours. Do not hide who you are, forge headers, or use misleading subject lines.

4.Security and the service

Do not:

• send malware, phishing pages or code meant to harm, or use Scale Suite to collect passwords or card numbers under false pretenses
• probe, scan or test our systems for weaknesses, unless we agreed in writing. To report a security problem, see the Security overview
• overload the service, get around rate limits, plans or permissions, or use bots to create accounts or entries
• copy, resell, rent or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product
• share sign ins, or let anyone use an account they are not invited to

5.Payments and Market

Pay and Market can only be used by businesses that Stripe can serve. You must follow the Stripe prohibited and restricted businesses list and the Pay terms. Scale also does not allow, in Pay or Market: gambling or paid raffles, money transmission, escrow, lending or check cashing, cryptocurrency sales, adult services, weapons and ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia including cannabis and CBD, tobacco and vape products, and multi level marketing.

Listings, prices, reviews and badges must follow the Market terms. Raffles must follow the Official raffle rules.

6.AI

You may not use AI, or anything else in Scale Suite, to make a decision about a person's job, pay, housing or tenancy, credit or lending, insurance, health care or education without a person reviewing it first. AI can help draft, sort or summarize. A person must decide, and your business is responsible for the laws that apply to those decisions, including fair housing, fair lending, employment and state automated decision laws. Do not use AI to mislead anyone about whether they are dealing with a person, to create deepfakes of real people, or to write content that breaks this policy. When AI talks for your business with people outside it, it must say it is AI.

Our AI provider's rules also apply to everything you ask AI to do: the Anthropic Usage Policy. The AI policy has the rest.

7.Sensitive and regulated information

Do not store protected health information under HIPAA in Scale Suite. Scale is not a business associate and does not sign business associate agreements.

Do not type full card numbers, bank account numbers, Social Security numbers or passwords into notes, documents, chats, AI or AI memory. Pay and bank connections collect those details through Stripe and Plaid, never through Scale.

Scale Suite is for businesses and people 18 and older. Do not build sites, forms or offers in Scale Suite that are directed to children under 13 unless you meet the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and tell us first.

Do not use Scale Suite where U.S. export or sanctions laws forbid it.

8.Intellectual property

Only upload, list, publish or send content you have the right to use. See Copyright and DMCA to report infringement.

9.How to report abuse

Email [abuse@scalembs.com, to be set up], or use Help and support in Settings. Tell us what happened, where (a link, an email address or a listing), and when. You do not need an account to report abuse. For copyright, use the copyright page. For a security problem, see the Security overview.

If someone is in danger, call 911 first.

10.What we do when this policy is broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may warn you, remove or hide content, pause a feature like sending, Pay or Market, suspend or close the account, keep records, and report to law enforcement where the law requires or allows it. We tell you why, unless the law, a court order or safety stops us. Where we can, we give you a chance to fix the problem first.

Our partners may act too. For example, Stripe may limit Pay, and our email partner may suspend a mailbox.

If you think we got it wrong, reply to our notice or write to legal@scalembs.com. A person reviews every appeal. [Decision: appeal window, for example 14 days.]
