Cookie and tracking policy

1.The short version

Scale Suite at suite.scalembs.com uses cookies and browser storage only to sign you in, keep you secure, remember your settings and keep your work. It does not use advertising cookies, cross site tracking, or third party analytics today. This page goes with the Privacy policy.

It does not cover scalembs.com, the website of our agency services, which has its own tools.

2.Cookies we set

All of these are needed for the service to work. They are marked Secure and HttpOnly, so page scripts cannot read them.

• __Host-scale_suite: keeps you signed in to the suite. Ends after 7 days without use, and after 30 days at most.
• __Host-scale_id and __Host-scale_bid: used by Scale ID ("Continue with Scale") to remember your sign in on this device and to tie each sign in attempt to your browser, which blocks some attacks.
• ss_fin: a random ID that keeps bank and Pay connections apart for each browser when you are not signed in with Scale ID. Used only for the Money and Pay connection screens. Lasts up to 1 year.
• ss_auth: remembers the developer password while Scale Suite is in preview, for up to 30 days. It goes away at launch.

Scale ID may set a few more short lived cookies while you sign in, for example when you continue with Google or Microsoft. They end when the sign in finishes.

3.Browser storage

• Your workspace: the suite keeps a copy of your work in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB) so it opens fast and works offline. When you are signed in, it is saved to our servers too. Signing out saves your work, ends the session and clears this device's copy.
• AI memory: stored encrypted in your browser, with a key your browser keeps and will not export.
• Settings for this device, like light or dark mode on these legal pages (scale-legal-theme).
• Where you came from: on the welcome page, the campaign tags in the link (like utm_source), the site that sent you, and the first page you landed on, kept for that browser tab only (session storage), and sent with your inquiry if you send one. Nothing that identifies you.

4.Other companies on our pages

Some features load code from our partners, who may set their own cookies under their own policies:

• Stripe, on payment pages and Pay setup screens, for payments and fraud prevention (Stripe cookie settings).
• Plaid, when you connect a bank in Money.
• Google or Microsoft, only if you choose to sign in with them.

Fonts and open source code come from our own site or from Google Fonts, jsDelivr and cdnjs, which see your IP address like any website but do not get your content. See Subprocessors.

5.Analytics

We do not run analytics tools on suite.scalembs.com today. [Decision for Cameron: if Cloudflare Web Analytics is turned on, it measures visits without cookies. We will update this page before turning it on.]

6.Websites you build with Sites

Websites your business builds with Sites belong to your business. If you add tracking, analytics, chat or ad tools to your site, you are responsible for the notices and consent the law requires for your visitors. A Scale visitor counter for Sites is coming later; when it is ready, this page will say what it stores. [Decision: make the Sites counter cookieless.]

7.Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so these signals do not change how Scale Suite works. If that ever changes, we will treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out.

8.Your choices

You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, you cannot sign in. Clearing site data also removes the copy of your work on that device, so sign in and let it save first.

9.Changes

If we add a cookie or tool that is not needed for the service, we update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
